Grout Calculator – Estimate Grout for Tiles & Joints

Calculate the amount of grout needed for tiling based on tile size, joint width, and area.

Enter tile dimensions, joint size, and area, then click Calculate Grout.

Grout is a material used to fill the gaps (joints) between tiles, providing stability and preventing moisture penetration. The grout volume is calculated based on the total joint length, joint width, and joint depth. The total joint length is determined by the number of tiles and their perimeter. The formula is: Grout Volume = (Tile Perimeter × Tile Count) × Joint Width × Joint Depth. Then, volume is converted to weight using the grout density (typically 1.8 kg/L). A waste factor of 10% is added to account for spillage and mixing losses. This calculator helps homeowners, contractors, and tilers estimate the correct amount of grout needed for any tiling project, reducing waste and ensuring sufficient material.

  1. Enter the Tile Length and Tile Width in millimeters.
  2. Enter the Tile Thickness in millimeters.
  3. Enter the Joint Width and Joint Depth in millimeters.
  4. Enter the total Tiling Area in square meters.
  5. Click Calculate Grout to see the required amount.
  6. The result shows volume, weight, and number of bags needed.
  7. Click Reset to restore default example values.
