About Rounding Numbers

Rounding replaces a number with an approximate value that has a shorter, simpler representation. The most common method — “half up” (also called arithmetic rounding) — rounds a number to the nearest integer, with ties (e.g., 2.5) rounded away from zero.

Theory: To round to n decimal places, multiply the number by 10ⁿ, apply Math.round() (which implements half-up), then divide by 10ⁿ. For example, 3.14159 rounded to 2 decimals becomes 3.14 (since the third decimal is 1 < 5). If the third decimal were 5 or more, the second decimal would increase by 1.

This service supports rounding to any integer number of decimal places from 0 to 10. It correctly handles negative numbers, large integers, and trailing zeros. The result is displayed with commas as thousand separators for better readability.
