Calculate pressure exerted on a surface by a force. Supports solving for pressure (P), force (F), or area (A).
P = 50.0000 Pa (0.0500 kPa, 0.0005 bar, 0.0073 PSI, 0.0005 atm)
Formula: P = F / A. Pressure is force distributed over an area. 1 Pa = 1 N/m².
What is Surface Pressure?
Surface pressure is the force applied perpendicular to a surface divided by the area over which the force is distributed .
P = F / A
Where:
- P — pressure (Pascal, Pa)
- F — force (Newton, N)
- A — area (square meter, m²)
One Pascal (Pa) is equal to one Newton per square meter (N/m²) . Common pressure units include:
- 1 kPa = 1,000 Pa
- 1 bar = 100,000 Pa
- 1 atm = 101,325 Pa (standard atmospheric pressure)
- 1 PSI = 6,894.76 Pa
This calculator can solve for any of the three variables — pressure, force, or area — making it useful for physics, engineering, and everyday applications .
How to Use This Calculator
- Select what to solve for: Pressure (P), Force (F), or Area (A).
- Enter known values: Fill in the two known quantities based on your selection.
- Select output unit: Choose Pa, kPa, bar, PSI, or atm.
- Calculate: Click the “Calculate” button or press Enter.
- Reset: Use the “Reset” button to restore default values.
- Interpretation: The result shows the calculated value in your chosen unit and all other units for reference. For example, a 100 N force on 2 m² gives 50 Pa pressure.
