Calculate the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) between two data sets.
Enter X and Y values, then click Calculate Correlation.
The Pearson correlation coefficient (r) measures the strength and direction of the linear relationship between two continuous variables. It ranges from -1 to +1. A value of +1 indicates a perfect positive linear relationship, -1 indicates a perfect negative linear relationship, and 0 indicates no linear relationship. The formula is r = Σ((xᵢ - x̄)(yᵢ - ȳ)) / √(Σ(xᵢ - x̄)² · Σ(yᵢ - ȳ)²), where x̄ and ȳ are the sample means. The coefficient of determination (r²) represents the proportion of variance in one variable explained by the other. The t-statistic tests whether the correlation is statistically significant. This calculator is widely used in statistics, data science, psychology, economics, and many other fields to quantify relationships between variables.
- Enter the X Values in the first text area (comma or space separated).
- Enter the Y Values in the second text area (same separator).
- Both data sets must have the same number of values.
- Click Calculate Correlation to compute Pearson’s r.
- The result shows r, r², t-statistic, and interpretation.
