Waist Circumference Norm Calculator – Health Risk Assessment

Check your waist circumference against health standards. The tool also calculates Waist-to-Height Ratio and Waist-to-Hip Ratio for a more accurate risk assessment.

=== Health Assessment ===
Waist: 75 cm — Healthy ✅
Waist-to-Height Ratio: 0.45 — Normal ✅
Waist-to-Hip Ratio: 0.75 — Low Risk ✅
Summary: Low health risk. Keep up healthy habits.

Standards (WHO): Waist: ♀≤80cm, ♂≤94cm (normal). WHtR < 0.5, WHR ♀<0.85, ♂<1.0 [citation:2][citation:7].

Waist Circumference and Health Risks

Waist circumference is an important indicator of health because abdominal obesity is linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers [citation:4][citation:7].

According to WHO recommendations [citation:8]:

  • Women: normal ≤ 80 cm, elevated risk 80–88 cm, high risk > 88 cm
  • Men: normal ≤ 94 cm, elevated risk 94–102 cm, high risk > 102 cm

In addition to waist circumference, doctors use other risk indicators:

  • Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR): Should be less than 0.5 [citation:2][citation:7].
  • Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR): Normal is < 0.85 for women and < 1.0 for men [citation:2][citation:8].

This calculator combines all three metrics to give you a complete assessment of health risk. The waist-to-height ratio is considered more accurate than BMI for predicting risk [citation:1][citation:3].

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Measure waist: Stand straight and measure the smallest circumference at the natural waistline (usually just above the navel) [citation:2][citation:7].
  2. Enter data: Fill in your gender, waist, height, and hip circumference.
  3. Calculate: Click “Check Health Risk” or press Enter.
  4. Reset: Use “Reset” to restore default values.
  5. Interpretation: The result shows your risk level based on all three indicators. Green ✅ indicates normal; yellow ⚠️ indicates elevated risk; red ❌ indicates high risk. If you have elevated or high risk, consult your doctor.
